We make sure that all Children Looked After (CLA) and previously looked after (POST CLA) get an appropriate education to meet their needs and help them fulfil their potential.
Virtual School Team – COVID 19 changes (July 2020)
COVID 19 has had a significant impact on the delivery of our usual support to schools. Our looked–after pupils may find changes in their usual routine particularly challenging. Schools are all facing a rapidly changing working environment whilst working hard to create a safe and supportive setting for our children and young people. The Virtual School Team, along with other support services, paused their support sessions in schools when they changed their working model in March. Staff moving from school to school was not appropriate or safe. Our Virtual School Team has had a number of developments over the last three months with increased numbers of children, reduced staffing numbers and differing school models. These combined have resulted in a need to move to a different way of providing support when schools start with wider reopening. The Virtual School Team will not be offering direct support sessions in the volume previously found in your schools. We will be working towards a new interim model of support whilst we await clarity on school models and how the wider education system and support services will develop following COVID 19. The Virtual School will be focussing on three key areas. 1. Transition - for children changing key stage or moving into significant year groups.
2. Attendance – working with children and families to get them into your setting and accessing the quality teaching available to them. 3. Person Education Plans – Using PEPs as the statutory vehicle to plan meeting the changing needs of our children. Over the last few weeks of the Summer term we will be developing new documentation to support PEPs and Pupil Premium Plus. Please check this page for updates. Your usual links to the team may differ in the new school year. All queries should go to the Virtual School Team administrative mailbox. firstname.lastname@example.org

The Designated Teacher training is for newly appointed and established designated teachers. The training covers: What is National Guidance for Designated Teachers? What is a PEP?
